Her favorite holiday was Christmas A week ago, I had to say goodbye to my baby girl of 18 years, Scud. She was born in my closet while I was away at piano lessons when I was 12. Dispite her look, Scud was half siamese with a full siamese mother (father unknown). Even though she was a Tabby, her coloring was mostly brown. Scud had a sister who was given to a nice family. My parents tried to give Scud away as well, but I cried every night for a week until my parents finally brought her back home. She was mine to keep after that. Scud was a very good girl, wasn't shy and very affectionate. She would never bite, or hiss, or try to scratch you, or make any noise when she went to the vet. But she loved your attention. If your lap wasn't occupied by another cat, she would be in it. She was always there when you needed her. She was there for me after the passing of her mother, Missy, in 2002 and after my mother's cat, Mr. Sid, passed away in November.
Scud had been sick for the last few years but she had a lot of life still left in her. Only in these past few weeks she had gotten really bad. On the morning of June 29th, I made the decision that it was her time. I feel she may have been in pain for a while, but she kept up a good front and didn't make a big deal about it. I believe this was the right decision and now she is in no more pain. |
She had a good long life even with a crazy name like Scud. I feel very lucky and proud to have had her since her birth. Not many people can say they watched their pet's eyes open for the first time and close for the last. I am going to miss her very much. She was my baby girl, and will always be! I hope she is with Mr. Sid and her mom, Missy, right now. Scud, I miss you dearly!
